In a unexpected collaboration that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of banned rituals and monstrous changes echo through the shadows." The plot introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret sect.

The mission concentrates on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Changes

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Additional Features

Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Addition

This release also introduces the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Crossovers

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
