Multiple passengers and crew have been injured following a Delta Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it touched down at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier informed. A number of the onboard staff were injured.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they assessed five individuals, and took a trio to hospital with minor injuries that such as spinal discomfort and head pain. The injured ranged from their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the most recent case of planes experiencing severe turbulence, with researchers indicating that shifting climate patterns is a major factor.
On board were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the wide-body jet, the Delta spokesperson noted, adding that the plane landed "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.
